This fan was purchased for the bedroom in our apartment, and it is low profile so that it isn't a hazard (unless you are super tall). It mounts flush to the ceiling and it adds elegance to the room with the brown and bronze blades and decorative accents. It is terrific that it includes the remote control as that is a must if you do not have a wall switch which can handle the light and the fan control separately. You only need a ceiling fan mounting bracket in the ceiling. The only complaint about the remote is that there is no way to instantly turn on the light at maximum brightness. You can only hold either button (not sure why there are two) to raise and then lower the light...Holding the button continues this pattern, oscillating between bright and dim so you have to let go when the light is just right. Most of the time I want the light on all the way which is tricky to make happen.Since the glass dome covering the light bulbs is frosted, the 120 watt 2 bulb output isn't as bright as I need for the entire room, so another lamp or two is needed in our bedroom.I plan to look for dimmable low wattage bulbs with candelabra bases in order to get more light, but I am not sure they exist just yet.I recommend the ceiling fan highly as the look and quality are excellent, but as with many products there are a few limitations to be aware of.
