Minka-Aire Fans F812-IO 54" Lineage Contemporary Iron Oxide Ceiling Fan w/ Light, Wall Ctrl & Blades Review

I'm very pleased with this fan.

This fan matches the Mission (Arts & Crafts) style of my home.It's well made and reasonably easy to install.The two wire (plus ground) electric connection means you don't need to rewire a ceiling light (otherwise to control the fan and both lighting sections would require a hard-to-install new multiconductor wire).

It does require a ceiling fan electric box with extra weight capability(~50 lbs), but these are relatively easy to install into a wooden stud ceiling from below (through the octagonal ceiling light box cutout; once you've removed the old lighting ceiling box).Be sure to turn off the breaker for the circuit or get an electrician.

It has a "bracket" that mounts to the ceiling box, and a "ball" on the hanger pipe that allows you to use both hands on the fan to lift the fan in place on the ceiling; much easier than trying to hold the fan in one hand and put a pin in with the other (I don't think I could lift this hefty fan with one hand safely).

The package contained everything I needed, except the fan ceiling box and two 60W candelabra bulbs (use bulbs rated for vibration use).There are two "hanger rods" (short decorative pieces of pipe); one that is "minimum length" (~3.5 inches) and one that is "short" (~6 inches).If you have a sloped (cathedral) ceiling, you'll need a longer pipe.Most big box home improvement stores have the pipes and fan electric boxes.The metal color is described as "iron oxide" which I took to be black when buying the fan, but I would call it more a dark bronze color.

Once installed, you have to "teach" the fan to recognize the wall control switch; it was easy.

It took me about 90 minutes to install and test.

The fan is quiet, three speed and reversible, all controlled at the wall.There are no switches on the fan.Each of the two lighting sections (one above the blades, one below) is independently controllable, with a continuous dimmer.it remembers the last setting.

Hunter 82042 Energy Star Bathroom Fan with Light, White Review

This fan is very quiet, but the description is bad, design is fair, and looks are fair.

- There is no way to turn off the night light. I assumed it would turn off when it was light in the room, but it does not. You can get a $2 night light that turns on/off with a light sensor, so why can't they put such a sensor on a $150 fan? I replaced the 4w incandescent night light with an LED since you can't turn it off and I don't want to have to replace the thing every month.

- The housing is not designed for installation into an existing hole. The hole needs to be much bigger than the housing due to the duct attachment point and very deep housing. I had to remove the duct and re-install with much difficulty once the housing was in place in the ceiling. The housing is 8" deep, making it a tight or even impossible fit in any place except a top floor bath.

- The grille is approximately 12x13 at the largest point, and the grille is curved, so it is about 10x11 at the corners. The 14.75" x 14.75" shown in the manufacturer's description might be including the box it came in. I don't know where they got that measurement.

- The light bulbs are low energy CFL with a two-prong conductor that I have never seen before. I checked my local big box store and could not find a replacement bulb. I hope the bulbs last a long time. What's wrong with a normal light bulb fixture?

- The design is ugly, kind of like a bulging belly sticking to your ceiling.

I specifically selected this model based on the advertised grille dimensions, hoping to cover up the hole from the old fan. Had I been able to get my hands on the thing in a store, I would never have purchased it. There was no store within 100 miles that had this fan, so I purchased based on the description. Amazon/manufacturer need to accurately describe the items they sell.

This is a disappointing purchase, especially at this price, but I decided to go ahead with the install since I have to assume that the other descriptions will be just as inaccurate and our old fan was already pulled. 2 stars only because it is very quiet.

Hunter 82003 Sand Dollar Bathroom Fan with Light, Brushed Nickel Review

Bought the fan for a small bathroom (80 sq feet) that has an "at the beach" theme.I was a bit worried about what the fan actually looked like but it looks great!The cover is rough (just like a sand dollar) and doesn't look cheap.It is relatively quiet and works fine.I might not recommend it for a large bathroom since it doesn't have the capacity to pull enough air but is fine for smaller bathrooms.

I bought this fan because it (a) is a hugger fan, meaning it's not very tall, (b) is available in white--so it tends to blend in with the ceiling color, and (c) does not require you to use a remote control (I already had two wall switches for it and many of the remote control ones won't let you wire for use without the remote AND maintain full control).

SAFETY NOTE: There are two nuts on this fan, one at the top and the bottom.They are probably metric, about 19mm (or 7/8"), so they're pretty big and easy to find.First thing you want to is make sure both of these nuts are cranked down good and tight and the top nut retaining clip is in place.This is not in the instructions.Mine came from the factory LOOSE and when I turned the fan on, the bottom section (which contains the lamp) rotated--it shouldn't do that--causing the pull chain ornaments to rise up and catch in the blades and get ripped off and flung across the room.

No damage, not even to the fan, but you definitely don't want to go through that.

Otherwise, very happy with the fan, definitely does not overpower the room, which has 8' ceilings.

I bought off ebay for $153 (after ebay 10% off coupon when paying with PayPal) + $15 S/H.

recently remodeled my master bedroom, new furniture, new paint, new fixtures, etc.. had a real hard time finding a ceiling fan i thought would finish up the suite.when i found this one i thought it would work nicely so i ordered it.well the picture showed it @ 10" off of the ceiling, but when i received it i knew with a 3" downrod it was not to be.was able to correct it by going out and purchasing a 12" down rod.it worked out really well.the motor is very quiet and the blades push a good amount of air around. for the most part i am happy with the outcome, just be prepared to purchase a longer down rod if you want it to appear as it does in the pictures.

Westinghouse #77028 16" White Ceiling Medallion Review

In case you need to prep your area ahead of time the daimeters of the holes are 4" and 6" and the full diameter is actually 15.5". I wanted to put it under a light fixture but the internal diameter was a bit too small so you should should make sure where your light touches the ceiling is a little less than 6". It is made of hard plastic so I wonder how well paint will stick to it, but thats a concern for the future since my ceiling is white. I find it a nice frugal add on if it goes with your room.

This is an excellent ceiling fan.It runs very quietly, and is easily controlled by the included remote control. I was particularly impressed by the installation. I was mounting this on a sloped ceiling, and fan comes with everything needed to do that, although I did order an extension rod (it comes with a 6-inch extension) to lower it somewhat.You do have to be sure that you have a solid mounting for this heavy fan.Fortunately, the electrical box that I was mounting to was already configured for a ceiling fan.At the ceiling, the mounting cover is in two pieces split about 3/4.You attach the larger piece, then when you're ready for the electrical connections, you lift the fan in place (have some help available - it's heavy!) and place the ball end of the extension rod into the mount.It holds it securely, and allows you to move the fan around as necessary.When you're done, you simply screw the last piece of the mount cover in place.

The actual assembly of the fan and blases was very smooth also.

I bought this fan as a retrofit for a bathroom fan that died.The installation experience was painful at best.I'm not a professional electrician, but I have plenty of experience with this kind of project. Home Depot fans are significantly easier to install.I've installed the Panasonic and a few Nutones and I can say that I'll probably just buy a Nutone for the next time I need to do this job.

*Instruction set is poorly written.You will pretty much have to guess.
*Unnecessarily complex installation. It took me more hours than I care to admit to install this thing.
*The electrical junction box is not big enough to contain all the wires after it gets wired up.If you plan to install this in your attic you will find it very awkward to wire this thing up because the angle at which you will have to work while balancing yourself on joists will kill your back and neck.Also, half the body of the junction box will be obscured from your vision.
*Even though I created a very secure base to connect the fan body to, I will still need to attach some kind of sound dampening to kill some minor resonation of the body.

After dropping $25000 on transitional furniture and artwork for our living room, I knew I needed to top things off with a killer ceiling fan.I went to several of the snootiest lighting stores in Houston and quickly honed in on Monte Carlo as the brand of choice.Monte Carlo is top notch engineering with no compromises styling.

I bought the fan and installed it myself in about an hour.Having installed several fans from Expo, I can say that the Monte Carlo product is very noticeably superior.The quality of the materials is very high.The blades are made of wood and appear to have been carefully sorted at the factory to ensure that they all have the same weight- this is critical for getting a well-balanced operation from your ceiling fan.The fan was so well balanced that I did not have to do any balancing work; out of the box it is by far the most stable/non-wobbly ceiling fan in my house.It looks like it's anchored to the ceiling- it does not move at all, even on the highest settings.

Speaking of high settings: this thing moves an amazing amount of air and the motor is silent.The only noise you will hear is the rush of air as the blades do their work.No whining or other noises.

I will be hard pressed to ever buy another ceiling fan that is not a Monte Carlo.The quality has surpassed anything I could have hoped for.When people come over and see our new furniture/artwork, they almost always compliment the ceiling fan too.I'm currently shopping for another Monte Carlo for another room and was pleasantly surprised to see that Amazon is now carrying them.

Do yourself a favor, get a Monte Carlo!

Casablanca C2M668M Silhouette II Ceiling Fan, Tuscan Bronze Review

Casablanca has always been the Mercedes of fans.I know people who have 20 year old casablancas and are still amazed how quiet and worry free, such fans can be.UNFORTUNATELY, technology moves on, and Casablanca has tried to ride its wave without success.The three Casablanca fans I purchased through Amazon arrived separately, the first one was very easy to install, everything went great, the remote worked like a charm.

PROBLEM occurred when the other two arrived, and I installed them, then the s...t hit the fan to use an old cliche.The remote became either totally useless or would turn on the light and not the fan, or just could not shut off the light, etc.I contacted Casablanca service which I admit is most courteous and helpful, they sent two additional remotes, these worked for a day and the same problem cropped up.

Casablanca has suggested they send a bonded electrician to conduct the necessary repairs.Frankly, I think the software that activates the fan motor and light is all messed up.Short of installing separate light and fan switches and by-passing the software that controls the fan innards through the remote, I have no idea what is going to happen.

The fan is sturdy and will last many years, the problem is whether I shall be able to use the three fans in my home, or shall have to disconnect the other two and store them in the attic, so that I have at least one fan operational.

Trying too hard to make a neat gizmo can be fatal.Casablancatake note, Amazon too.

Casablanca 3211T 53" Stealth Contemporary Snow White Ceiling Fan w/ Light, Wall Ctrl & B32-11 Blades Review

We chose this for our media room because of its modern styling (and
my wife wanted to add an overhead light to the room.) The fan and remote
operate perfectly, no wobble, smooth, quiet, the best. The light is another matter. It's one tiny 100w halogen bulb in a frosted glass dish.
The light output is meager at best, they should have put two bulbs
in there for it to have any real usefulness.(see customer images)
The light assembly is also not up to Casablanca's usual high standard.
The globe/dish mounts into a cheesy stamped aluminum pan with a bayonet
type mount ( push in and twist to lock ) My assembly must have been on
the extremes of manufacturing size tolerances (large diameter globe,
small diameter aluminum pan) because it wouldn't rotate and lock all the
way. When I tried to unlock it, the entire lamp pan assembly started
turning instead of just the globe.
It's jammed in there, half locked, so I'm not worried about it falling out, but when the lamp finally blows I'll have to remove the entire fan
assembly from its mount in the ceiling and take it to the service center
(which thankfully is in the next town) and pay to have them repair it.
I contacted customer service, and this isn't covered under the warranty. So if you really need a room light with your fan, buy a more
traditional Casablanca design.

I wanted to wait until I installed this to review it so now that it's installed, I can say that I was pretty disappointed with the quality of this fan/light.First of all the blade colors given in the description are wrong, it's white and very dark oak, NOT bleached oak (which would have matched my floor:(
The item is made in China which should tell you something nowadays about how good it is, and the box it came in literally disintegrated (are they making boxes out of dust now?)upon opening it.Several pieces were damaged, one being the fan blade bracket whose very cheap finish was -peeling off- on one piece, and 2 of the blades though securely packaged and wrapped had tears on the dark oak side (thank God), so this side can never be used.AND, the blades seem to be made of cardboard, which explains how a color can be torn off (it's likely a decal of some sort)!Is wood that expensive? I don't know whether to blame the company or China for making this just another crappy imported product.
If this was a $40-45 fan, I could understand, but not for $123.
Amazon customer service was very nice but these are pretty hard to ship back when the box disintegrates and you've already installed the motor and light kit.

I bought this item to replace an existing dimmer switch that had simply broke in my hand when adjusting the cheap plastic slider.The Emerson switch I am reviewing replaced that and is much better quality.So far, the switch fit snugly in the vacancy created by the previous one, and feels more sturdy.The sliders are a heavier quality or something and I do feel I need to worry about it popping off in my hand when I turn the light or fan on.Installation was a snap as well with the long color-coded flexible wires and so on.

Hunter Fan 28481 56-Inch Cambridge Ceiling Fan, Roman Bronze Review

This is a truly classy fan.It replaced our previous 20 year old Hunter fan that got water in the motor after Hurricane Ike damaged our roof.We got the one that came with the light kit and it is very stunning.No 1980's shiny brass on it!I love the antique bronze finish.The disappointment is even though it is beautiful, the glass dome is inverted and not clear but rather resembles the look of marble (spicy mustard yellow with darker "veins" running through it), and the bulbs are small, so it does not give off very much light like the old Hunter did. But overall, it is a lovely fan and blows hard, just not enough light.

I purchased the Harbor Breeze branded remote from Lowes (same exact product).It seems that Litex makes Habor Breeze products for this Lowes only brand.

Two items come in the package; the in-wall mounted remote and the internal module which attaches to 2 or 3 wires to the ceiling fan (and stays inside the fan's base).

The wall remote is excellent quality.3 gray buttons for fan speed, 1 light green glow in the dark round button for turning on/off the fan lights (note: hold round button for dimming), and 1 on\off switch which acts as a master power switch.A small round indicator light (red) illuminates when any of the 4 buttons are pressed.

We got the fan 2 weeks ago for our 2 story Family Room (20' by 19' by 18' tall), first thing we noticed: the advertised size of 54" on the box was taped over by a little 52".
The manufacturer themselves were not aware of it that the size "changed", but yes, it is a mere 52". According to them it still moves the same amount of air (about 5529 cubic foot of air). Every web-page I look atadvertises it as a 54". Booh to the manufacturer for not setting this straight! For our large Family Room I specifically did not want a small Fan. A 54" was my minimum!
We still installed it with a 3' downrod because of its great air-rating. After that we noticed that we won't be able to operate the Reverse Switch with an extension pole, because it moves side to side (not up and down like most fans), and to top it off, it is barely raised, not even a real switch! Bad Design, Fanimation!

This Fan is definitely not made for 2-story Rooms. I wouldn't recommend it for tall ceiling unless you want to rent a tall ladder for every season change. After-market remotes for the Reverse Switch are not available either!

Either way, we are keeping it for now (despite my husbands complaint). It does move enough air to our satisfaction and despite it looking a littletoo small, it does have a great look!!

Hunter Fan 20493 52-Inch Bingham Ceiling Fan, Cocoa Review

Had an electrician install the Bingham fan. Very little air movement, tried reverse, was even worse. Contacted Hunter who said, oh this doesn't have a good CFM(?) rating. Nice to know now. They told me to return it to the vendor and get a different one. But....trying to find out how this works because I now have to pay the electrician to remove it, and then install a new one. Does Amazon send a shipping label to return fan? Not sure. May never buy Hunter again.

Westinghouse 4032 60-Watt, G 16-1/2 Halogen Ceiling Fan Bulb, Candelabra Base, Clear 2-Pack Review

Ordered 6 halogen bulbs for a ceiling fan fixture because the normal incandescent bulbs kept burning out. They seem to provide a bit more light than the same wattage incandescent. I thought that these bulbs would give off more heat than the others, but to my surprise the fixture feels cooler to the touch than before. Perhaps more energy is going into producing light and less into heat. So far, after about a month of use, they are performing very well - I'll update this review when one fails.

I ordered this item in the beginning of August and never received it. I contacted the Tribeca Blu twice through the Amazon Communications Center, and got no reply. Based on that, I left a bad review. Turns out, the seller never received my emails from Amazon and the post office for some reason had returned my package. So it we were let down by the system. Finally, we connected and the package was resent and delivered. The Beach Sand Bucket Shovel Ceiling Fan Pull Chain is adorable. I don't think it was worth the cost of shipping, handling, and extra agita, but I am still glad to have it.

Crystal Bead Candelabra Ceiling Fan Light Kit Review

I absolutely love this fan light kit. My daughter is 5 years old and her room style is shabby chic. This goes perfect! Every time any one goes in her room, the first thing they notice (of course I always turn light on : ) is light. Every one compliments me on it. The only thing I didn't like-and I still think it is on there, but I just can't find it-is that there is no chain pull to turn light on and off. It only works when you wire it through wall outlet. Other than that it is well worth the price for the wow factor you get.

Casablanca 79U88D Lanai Outdoor Ceiling Fan, Matte Black Review

Took hubby 1/2 a day to install, including fan, remote control device, hanging bracket from attic beam through ceiling, and balancing the blades.Well worth his time and effort. The Navaho white finish is textured, making it sort of disappear against the textured ceiling. The blades coordinate nicely with existing medium oak woodwork. We use the fan to redistribute heat throughout our front-to-back-split-level living room, dining room and kitchen areas. The price was great, shipping free and the fan is silent. Couldn't ask for anything better!

Hunter 20412 Auberville 1-Light 44-Inch Five-Blade Ceiling Fan with Frosted Globe, Provencal Gold Review

This ceiling fan replaces a 15 year old one that has gone belly-up. We've put up a few ceiling fans in the past 15 years, and this was the most difficult one by far. The instructions had missing steps and we had to figure it out by trial and error and it took much longer to install than it should have.

The fan chain comes down through the metal disk and then goes through the decorative cover plate below the glass bowl, and this makes the chain operation of the ceiling fan difficult-it pulls harder than it should since this configuration puts the chain at an angle. I don't like this design. The pull chain for the light fixture comes straight down and is no problem.

And be forewarned, it doesn't take standard light bulbs-you have to use 2 B10 candelabra bulbs (60 Watt Max) that I just happened to have some spare ones around. This doesn't put out as much light as a standard light bulb would. This is a little disapointing.

On the plus side we didn't have to use the balancing kit for the blades-there was no wobble. It's very quite-you cannot hear anything at all. It has a beautiful antique gold finish and the oak side of the blades we chose looks like real wood.

You can mount this one of 3 ways: Flush, Standard, or Angled. With or without light fixture. Everything is in the box. You just need to read between the lines in the instruction manual.

It's nice to look at and fits our redecorated decor, but will it stand the test of time? I guess we'll wait and see.
