The Fitzgerald appears to be the Cadillac of table-top fans.It can mount on the wall, as well as on the table-top (easy-to-use hardware for wall-mounting is included), and is heavy, powerful, and well constructed.
While you may be able to find a cheap plastic table-fan for next to nothing at some department store, the Fitzgerald was not meant for that particular, low-end utilitarian market.
The Fitzgerald works perfectly as a table-top fan, but it was also created as an art-object and as a lovely decorative piece for a person's home.

I installed one of these fans in my bathroom (which has a window) and it works great.I hooked it right up to the light switch so when the light is on the fan is on (or you can pull chain it).lightbulb was not standard and wouldn't accept a compacr fluorescent due to size.
