The Hole Pro X-230 is a well built tool that makes the task of cutting holes much simpler. If you are required to cut holes into drywall, you cannot live without this tool. It is also capable of cutting woods, plastics, and other materials.

This worked great with my puny 14.4v Dewalt drill. The plastic shield does an *excellent* job of containing dust, debris, and flying chunks. Anyone doing renovation work or a job where cleanup is a big issue, this is a must have tool. I cannot ever imagine going back to cutting holes with a drywall saw.

All of the parts are heavy duty and well built. The shield doesn't leave marks, the blades are strong, and the spinning motion is perfectly balanced. Do not waste your money with the cheaper imitations (~$50).

Because the saw blades are adjustable, this can literally replace a dozen hole saws of various sizes. The only reason to keep hole saws is for specialty applications such as cutting metal or tight locations. While the shield is removable, the "bar" that the blades attach to is a fixed length.

I bought the 8" model and it worked so well that I gave it to my partner and bought myself the 12" hole cutter. It is amazing how well it cuts and I can cut the exact size hole from under 2 inches to 12 inches in size. There have been two problems with cutting holes, getting the right size hole saw, and not getting hurt when the hole saw gets stuck and the drill starts to spin around the other direction with me still holding on. With this hole cutter I have cut hole up to 12 inches in diameter in wood with my old ½ drill and feel safe doing it.

I like the dust shield that catches all the shavings. It makes cleanup a breeze even when cutting holes in the ceiling. I put in recessed ceiling lights all through my house and this cutter made the job quick and easy. I did not need to make a template, just decide where the can was going and center the hole cutter and cut. The cut plug is held by the dust shield and all I needed to do was flip it over and drop the plug into a 5 gallon bucket I tied to the ladder. With the slots in the shield it is very strong and it makes it easy to watch as it is cutting. There is no cross brace needed for this composite plastic dust shield so it is much faster to wipe clean when done.

The blades are very fast to change and the HSS blades cut very cleanly and the tungsten carbide blades last a long time.

As a skylight installer, the faster I can get the job done the more money I make.This adjustable hole cutter from Hole Pro saves me time on the job. With the dust shield and its soft rubber edge I get a good seal so shavings don't go all over the place and I don't have to worry about the cut piece falling on something and causing damage. So I don't have to move as much furniture or use drop cloths over everything and I don't need to trace a template circle for the cutout.

The shield also can be used to adjust the depth of the cut so I don't accidentally cut something up in the ceiling including a beam. With the two blades it cuts fast even at lower rpms, and it makes a real clean hole even in plaster ceilings.

It is a very well made tool and the plastic dust shield is light but tough and will hold up on the job. The blades are quick to change if I want to use the high speed steel blades instead of the tungsten carbide ones. Both kinds are included in the case with the hole cutter. I do need to make sure that the three prongs of the drill chuck line up with the 3/8 inch shaft of the hole cutter which has three flattened sides for better grip. The keyless chucks also seem to work better than the ones that need a key and tightening each side of the drill chuck.

I now install 10 inch and 14 inch tubular skylights but if I start to install a different size skylight the hole cutter is quick to adjust to any size tubular skylight being made today up to the 16 inch sizes. I still use a sawzall on the roof but there the debris falls into the attic. Inside the customer's home where I am making the ceiling hole this tool saves me time and customers appreciate that there is less disruption and dust and I am in and out of the job site faster.

I bought this tool to cut duct outlets for high velocity AC systems I install from Unico. I have used the X-305 model for Airtec MV diffusers and this smaller size uses the same blades and has the same great build quality.

It is easy to adjust the size hole and I can use a cordless drill to cut holes where if I used a hole saw I would need to use a cord drill and an extension cord and worry about clean cuts and have all the dust and shavings to cleanup afterwards. I used it with the high speed steel blades to cut 20 holes in a 5/8" tongue and groove wood ceiling for 5 inch light cans in less than an hour. And I used an old 18 volt Milwaukee cordless drill that uses NiCad battery packs.

I even cut speaker holes in my boat using the tungsten carbide blades to cut holes through the gelcoat and fiberglass. For a tight fit I needed to make a 5-1/8" cutout for the waterproof speakers. Try to find a hole saw that is 5-1/8" - it does not exist.

The 7 inch diameter shield makes it easy to get the tool in tight spaces or close to the edge of a soffit or cabinet and also keeps the cutter perpendicular. I like that I can adjust how deep it cuts so I don't need to worry about cutting something hidden behind the wall or clipping a beam.

The storage case is very high quality, and much better than the cases with the tools I have bought. I like having everything I need in a single case, including spare blades.

I like to buy a tool that will last for many years of use and the Hole Pro hole cutters are that kind of tool. Everything about them is first class.
