Hunter 21623 52-Inch Concert Breeze Ceiling Fan with Wireless Sound System, New Bronze Review

I have a small one bed one bath house. The ceiling fan is located in a central place in the house. Installing this fan has been GREAT! The installation wasn't all that difficult. I only had to call them to ask about a wire hook up b/c the color coding of my old wiring wasn't standard and I had to make sure I connected the correct wires to each other. Customer service was good, but there was a bit of static on the line until the guy adjusted his headset microphone. I got it hooked up no problem after that.

I connected my ipod to the transmitter and set the alarm to wake me up with music playing in the whole house. The speaker quality isn't bose, so don't expect huge depth in sound. But it's still a pretty good speaker. Use the volume controls on the device you hook up to the transmitter as opposed to the volume controls on the remote. I think the remote volume control is just for turning it down when you need to temporarily, but not so much for controlling the volume of individual songs. For that you're best bet is the device that is playing the music.

I am considering buying the lamps w/speakers in them to go with this. Properly positioned I can hook up my tv to it and get like surround sound quality (not true surround sound like bose, but a reasonable facsimile).

Hunter Fan 23963 70-Inch Stockbridge Ceiling Fan, New Bronze Review

I'm writing this review because I always find it helpful to read others reviews when considering a purchase.I could only find 1 review of this fan anywhere on line, so here goes.

This fan looks great and works great.The only negative would be the small lights, they are the small, decorative, max 45 or 60 watt bulbs.This fan/light does not put out a ton of light, but we didn't buy it for that.The light is fine, it just isn't super powerful.The fan on the other hand rocks.We had considered 2 other fans, but they both had questionable reviews as to the amount of air they moved.That is not an issue with this fan.On all 3 settings, you can feel the air, on medium and high, it really moves.

We have this fan mounted in a large great room roughly 10 feet above us, it sits on a 5' downrod and then the unit with light is an additional 18 inches.It looks gorgeous, really moves air, and I installed a dual, single switch that controls the fan and light on the same switch and that worked out great as well.We can feel a breeze from the room while standing in the kitchen near the entrance to the great room.Airflow is not an issue with this fan.

The only other issue with installation is the length of your downrod.Mine is 5 feet, so the motor wires were too short to run the whole length and running the stiffer Remco wires made it a bit difficult to attach the downrod to the motor housing, but you basically just have to go in reverse and pull the wires back through the top of the downrod to take out the slack so you can connect the downrod to the motor, and then put the whole thing together up at the base on the ceiling.

Summary:Great fan, lots of air, beautiful finish and look, small lights, but we are totally satisfied and happy we got this fan.We have bumped up our thermostat 5 to 6 degrees and not noticed a difference in comfort.

Casablanca 97032T Mission Ceiling Fan with Inteli-Touch Control, Weathered Copper Review

We paid top dollar for our Casablanca Mission fan which we mistakenly believed was a top-of-the line product and a good company. We invested the extra money intending to make it part of our house - for life. The fan's computer based controller - without which this fan motor/light will not run at all - has failed for the second time, with the fan no longer responding to the controls, it is unusable. Casablanca claims their "lifetime warranty" was meant for the motor only and not the controller. This makes absolutely no sense at all, as the controller is physically part and parcel of the motor in this model, and the two are inseparable to operate the fan. Casablanca demanded upwards of $100 to replace the flaky controller, which we refused. For this money, a completely new, reliable ceiling fan can be bought. I feel Casablanca has failed to honor their warranty, and have employed a very poor and transparent word trick to avoid it. Do yourself a favor, avoid this fan, and avoid the Casablanca warranty (i.e. buy another brand).

Casablanca C17G8A Vita Ceiling Fan, Matte Black Review

Love the design of this fan.Very quiet and lots of extras included in the product.Only drawback is that it provides very little light.If you are looking for a fan that provides high strength lighting this may not be the fan for you.The wattage of the light bulbs suggested is limited.I will need another type of light in the room where it is installed.If that is not a concern I would highly recommend this fan.Love the security feature it provides.

Westinhouse Ceiling Fans 78127 56" Industrial Ceiling Fan Review

This is a great large clean fan. It is built for industrial applications, so if plan to install it in your home be prepared for a few bumps in the road. The downrod is only adjustable if you can extend the rod into the ceiling. I wasn't able to do that and had to hacksaw the downrod to make it shorter. The other problem is the switch for this unit is HUGE...industrial. I was able to buy a standard one at Home Depot but it doesn't go backwards and only has three speed settings instead of the 5 that the fan is capable of. These problems aside, I love my new fan. It's quiet and the design is modern and fits in our new home well.

Hunter Fan Sonic Ceiling Fan - 50" Review

Seems solid so far and puts out a good breeze. Good looking, though in the picture they made it look much whiter than it is.
It took most of a day to install, directions not that intuitive.
I give it only 3 because of the controls. The wall switch turns on the light.it takes a specialty bulb,not a normal,easy-to find-CFL medium base bulb.
You have to use the remote to turn the fan on and the light off. If you lose the remote, or battery runs out (also a "specialty"battery) you literally can not turn
your fan on.Also, the remote seems weak,i have to stand right under the fan and point the darn remote at it and press several times to get it to respond.
A pull chain option,or an option for the wall switch to turn on the fan rather than just the light, would have been great.
Once you get around to putting it up, your guarantee's run out and the packaging is opened,and if you could return it
you'd have to pay shipping back.
I will always have a slight feeling of being "stuck" with this, I didn't know what the remote would be like.

Monte Carlo 3TF24RB Micro 24-Inch 3-Blade Ceiling Fan with Teak Blades, Roman Bronze Review

When you have a room where a conventional ceiling fan doesn't fit, this is good substitute.

When you're directly underneath, the airflow is very good.However, when you aren't, the breeze isn't nearly as noticable.For a large room, I wouldn't bother.

The fan is small enough to fit in a hallway; we ended up mounting ours in close proximity to our hanging pot rack (there was no other fan that would make both usable at the same time) and we were pleased.

Installation was a bit of a pain:the wires leading from the motor were about eight feet long and had to be cut.The manual indicated that I should be able to mount the top and have the rest on the ground with wires hanging down and have room to work, but that's a dream.Plus I had to trim the wires to get them to fit in the casing.Another obvious con is that the instructions weren't written well at all, which is surprising because Monte Carlo is a great company.Lots of pictures do not make for clear directions.

The fan is almost directly over our kitchen table, and when leaves were taken out to seat eight, everyone felt a nice breeze.

The fan is quiet too -- even on the highest setting.I was worried that the light kit wouldn't be bright enough (read: candelabra bulbs) as I use fluorescents whenever I can, but I didn't have any issues at all.I'm really pleased with this fan.

The bottom line is when the situation calls for it, this fan is excellent.It would be great in a bathroom or a wide hallway, but if another fan will work, don't pick this one up.

Incidently, we got ours from Lowe's for $70, and it included the light kit.

Hunter 82031 Energy Star Ultra Quite Bathroom Fan, White Review

I bought 2 of these fans and they both met or even exceeded my expectations.They are an easy DIY install because of the well written instructions.And the fans run very quietly.I'd say they sound like a desk fan running on low speed; you can definitely hear it, but you can easily talk over the noise. My only complaintis the square vent (seen in the product picture) is rather large; I'd estimate it's 10" x 13".It would be more aesthetically pleasing if smaller.

Hunter 27182 Fan/Light Dual Slide Fan/Light Control Review

I had three of these switches installed in my brand new home.Prior to the electrical inspection, one of the slide tabs broke.Since being in the home, I have had to replace two more of these switches as the sliding tabs are too fragile and spaced so closely together it makes it difficult to only select one function.This product is not worth its price unless you intend to be replacing it frequently. Three out of five switches defective within three months time is simply unacceptable!

Well packaged, clear manual in English and Spanish, well illustrated. Phillips screw driver was only tool necessary. A volt meter would be helpful if you are installing in a house which is "pre-wired" with two switches... one for the fan and one for the light.Fan and blades together weigh 26 lbs according to the box, so be prepared to hold the motor slightly above your head for a few seconds.I have 10 foot ceilings. Purchased an 18 inch downrod on a different website to match color. Globe fixture casts a rotating pattern on the ceiling. Downward facing lights would have preventing this. Maybe the manufacturer could have placed a shield above the globe. I own a solar powered house, so Energy Star fan important. High speed uses same power as 60 watt bulb.

This fan was a little tricky for my brother in law (who has installed numerous fans in his mothers and his own home) to install.It only took he and my husband 30 minutes to install but he mentioned to me that it was a pain compared to the others he had experience with.I myself am not wowed by its appearance.I am going to search for a different light cover as this one is hidieous!!!!I was surprised to see that the metal was a pewter color.The picture made me think it would be more blackened.It functions well and gives off lots of light so as far as that is concerned I am pleased.But I am suffering some buyers remorse because it's appearance is not quite all I hoped it would be.

Hunter Ceiling Fans 28461 5 Minute Fan Antique Pewter Builder Indoor Fan 52" Blade Span Review

This was very easy to install (my second ceiling fan) if you are replacing an existing fan. It took me more like 30 minutes though (not 5), but I double-check everything I do. The motor is a little louder than I would like but for the price you can't beat it. No wobbling or strange movements whatsoever.

Edited 6/02/10: Motor loudness was cured shortly after I wrote first review...not related to fan and problem soft. Fan is so quiet now so I changed my rating to 5 stars.

Just installed this fan...what a nightmare!I can't believe how poor some of the features are designed given the price tag. I made up some never before heard cuss words when trying to install the hatch screw.It is the equivalent of trying to thread a needle without being able to see the needle.There is no way to align this square shaped fan so the edges run parallel to the edges of your room once you have it installed.I even called their tech service department but they were no help at all.Also, there is no way to wire this thing sothe light and the fan can be operated by separate switches.This thing sux!!!!

Hunter 27186 Fan/Light Wall Mount Control Review

Wow.Where do I begin?This is one of the most poorly designed products I have ever seen.First, just so you know, it requires a battery--not included (the packaging lets you know this in VERY small print in the back).The battery size it requires is A23--a very obscure size.The packaging appears to show that the unit comes with a face plate.It does not (even though all other wall switch transmitters I've seen include this).The transmitter wall mount has the ground wire extend well below the frame...which makes it so that you have to virtually rip it off in order to attach it to the box.The receiver is too large and extremely difficult to fit into a bracket hanger.If you have the light set to dim and you turn it off, the next time you turn it on, it is back up to the brightest setting.If the power goes out, when it comes back on, the light automatically turns on to the brightest setting--not good if your 3-year-old is trying to sleep.Do yourself a favor and, if you can, purchase the Hampton Bay...or maybe Hunter has a better unit available that I haven't seen.I haven't tried the Harbor Breeze or Hampton Bay unit that requires the standard 9 volt battery (which the packaging clearly states).But I have tried the unit that connects to your power from the original switch so that you don't need to worry about ever replacing a battery (this may not be an option if a wall switch or electrical box is not already where you intend to install the transmitter).It installs much easier, it remembers your light setting every time you turn it off and back on, and it comes with a face plate.

The directions are very clear and easy to follow, covering all the possible scenarios.When I finished installing this fan and a new switch, I turned it on and ... nothing.I thought I'd done something wrong with the wiring until I looked closely and saw the fan spinning.It is that quiet.When I put the flex duct on the output there is now the noise of the air in the duct, but it is still very quiet and can barely be heard outside the bathroom.I think if I used a rigid duct or a larger diameter duct, that noise could be minimized.

Minka-Aire Fans F601-BS/BN 52" Acero Contemporary Brushed Steel Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Wall Ctrl Review

The style of this fan would be equally at home in a more modern home as it was in our 1927 craftsman bungalow kitchen.The pitch of the blades does a great job circulating air without generating an excessive amount of wind, although be sure to measure the blade length to make sure they don't hit your cabinet doors when open!

DIY-ers beware:The only drawback to this fan is the wiring connection inside the optional light fixture isn't very well designed.The neutral wire is tucked safely behind the bulb socket and away from the incredibly hot halogen bulb.The hot wire, however, hangs close enough to the bulb to melt through the insulation and sever the connection.I wound up having to repair my wire twice, finally resorting to wire-tying it to the neutral, which still remained safely tucked behind the hot part.

Wiring issues aside, we are planning to purchase another of these fans for our new house when we move next month.

Although suitable for an outdoor (damp) installation, this fan can be mounted inside, which is what we did.The screws and other hardware are stainless steel and the fan blades are white ABS plastic with an embossed wood-grain.The blades are the same on both sides, but for some reason, "this side up" is printed on one side.There are no openings on the top of the fan, which presumably means it could withstand some amount of direct rain...

Choose Snow White to see my photo via Customer Image - my installation includes a Casablanca 36" down-rod (PL1136) and K4K-11 lamp kit.(This lamp kit is not for a damp location.)

The 83U11D fan comes with two pull chain switches.One controls fan speed (off, low, medium, high).The other is the blade reversing switch (clockwise or counter-clockwise).The optional K4K-11 lamp, which requires candelabra bulbs, adds a pull chain for the lamp.An optional remote control (called the Adapt Touch) is available at extra cost.In our case, with the 3' down-rod, the bottom of the lamps are 9' 6" off the floor, in a new room - there is a wall switch for the fan and one for the fan lamps; we didn't want a remote.

Having just installed a [more costly] Hampton Bay model last week, I really appreciated the clever ceiling mounting hardware of the Casablanca.The Hampton Bay hardware required the fan ceiling box to be perfectly flush with the surrounding surface (e.g., drywall).That is, if that box is low by even 1/16", you have to shim the Hampton Bay fan holder bracket, on one or both sides; or the canopy cover won't be flush against the ceiling.The Casablanca hardware, by contrast, uses a bracket that mounts flush against the drywall resulting in the canopy being flat against the ceiling, by design; with no extra effort on your part.Simplicity itself.

This Casablanca is not particularly heavy for a ceiling fan; about 22 pounds with the lamp.Even at that weight, you MUST mount it to a ceiling electrical box that is fan-rated at 50 pounds or more.Mounting any ceiling fan to a plastic ceiling box, or even a standard steel box, is a disaster waiting to happen.I.e., the fan could fall to the floor, or worse, land on someone.

Any ceiling fan can wobble when on the higher speeds, and doubly so if it's on a long down-rod.The bottom of the lamps on this fan oscillated by about 1/8" on high speed.Not too bad, but it was noticeable if you watched it for long.Fortunately, Casablanca provides a "dynamic balancing" kit with instructions on how to resolve a wobble.(Step by step approach for finding which blade, and where on that blade, a weight is needed.Weight is provided.)I was skeptical, but it worked - the wobble is gone.

At the lowest speed, the fan creates a very gentle breeze.At the mid-speed, you can definitely feel the breeze, and on a hot day, it feels cooler.High speed puts out significant air volume, which is too much if you're in its path..Turn the fan off from high speed, and it takes 100 seconds for the blades to come to a complete stop.

The fan industry has standardized on 3/4 inside diameter steel pipe for down rods.Of course, the rods are polished and finished to the fan color.Unfortunately, the industry hasn't standardized on how the bottom of the down rod attaches to the fan motor assembly, or how the top connects.The better designs, used by Casablanca and others, use a threaded rod screwed into a heavy receiving bracket on top of the motor assembly, with a lock screw to prevent the rod from unscrewing - an approach that has the motor rigidly fixed at a right angle to the pipe (down-rod), i.e., parallel to the floor.Other brands, such as the Hampton Bay, use a pin through the bracket and pipe, which allows the motor to pivot slightly - a clearly inferior design, since the fan may not stay level.

The motor and lamp wires are sufficiently long to use a down-rod of up to six feet.Simply cut the wires to the length you need.

This Casablanca product demonstrates a well-thought-out design, refined over decades of fan building experience.It's easy to install, the motor is silent, and has a lifetime warranty on the motor (one year on finish, component parts, accessories, and electronics).There's even a 120-day in-home service warranty if something goes wrong, although if properly installed, it's unlikely you'd need that.

I bought this fan to put outside at our Boat slip at the marina.We had a Hampton Bay 48 inch outdoor fan from Home Depot up but wanted a wider radius.The 48 inch fan had great RPM's and a great wind/breeze maker but was just not wide enough to cover our deck at the lake.So we opted for this 60 inch outdoor fan.We went to install it, on a 4 foot down pole, like the Hampton Bay 48 inch and found, unlike all other standard fans, it takes a 1/2 inch rod instead of the industry standard 3/8's inch rod.Well, they don't make one so we had to custom make one out of a 48 inch galvanized steel pole for plumbing.That worked fine.

However, once we had it installed, thats when we found the most disappointing thing.Unlike ALL ceiling fans we have owned for more than 25-30 years, this fan, ON HIGH, moved like most fans on low to medium.We thought we had something hooked up wrong, so we spend 2 hours taking it back down, analizing it and putting it back up to find it still moved slower on high than any other fan we have ever seen.It did not hardly move any air/wind outdoors, being it was an outdoor fan.

Once we got home from the lake, I looked up on the companies web site montecarlofans dot com, and found the RPM's for this fan are HORRIBLE.

On Low, the RPMS are only 37 RPM's... thats 1 rotation per 2 seconds... on HIGH, the RPM's are a laughable 147 which is approx 2 1/2 Rotations per minute... unlike nearly every other ceiling fan, when you put them on high, you can barely make out the blades they are turning so fast, you can literally count the rotations with this one they are turning so slowly. and you can make out each blade on High...

I would HIGHLY discourage anyone from buying this fan.The NON Standard size down pole fittings and the HORRIBLY slow RPM's make this fan only good for 'atmosphere', not for 'functionality'.

This fan is heavy in weight! It looks great, really catches the eye. My son flipped out when he seen it. Love the night light built into the canopy! The main light needs much improvment!!! It is not bright enough at all. Its one of the energy efficient bulbs so a dimmer will not work. There is no need for a wall switch, everything is controled be the remote control. I paid $234.00 with free shipping on this fan, due to the main light being so dim it was not worth it. Your really paying for the appearance on this fan. The fan itself is most powerful and will move air! Has a slight hummmm when running. Most ceiling fans do, but for this price I thought it would a bit more quite. It's not really loud but could be more quite.

Hunter 21894 52-Inch Westover Heater Fan Review

Installed this fan in a smallish home office as a replacement for an old standard fan. Installing was easy and straight forward. The unit has a small fan for the heater that sounds like small jet engine. Not only is it annoyingly loud but wholly inefficient. I would never recommend this for heating a room, or even supplemental heat. Save your money and buy a nice fan instead.

Minka-Aire F574-WH 52" Concept II WET Outdoor Flush Mount White Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Wall Ctrl Review

I'm extremely happy with this fan. It looks sleek, modern, clean and sturdy. The three fan blades are sufficiently sized and pitched at 14 degrees, which means it doesn't have to spin like the spin cycle on your washing machine to move a large volume of air around the room.It's also very quiet!!I am a light sleeper and I can't hear this fan motor at night.I also don't hear the fan blades cutting into the air.I also love the wall switch.We bought three fans from the same manufacturer, this one was the WET model.The fan controller replaces the wall switch, which I think is fantastic.There is no fan remote to lose!!I like the switch so much that I have replaced the other two fan switches with this one.My only resevations are one of choice and one of design.The light is halogen, so I don't think I can switch it out with a low energy one. LED lights are coming, so maybe I'll be able to replace the halogen bulb with an LED one.The light controller is not that great.There are two button that look like it's designed after a light switch, but pushing either button gets the same result.When you push and hold either button, the light either dims or brightens.Pushing the up or down button does not control the direction of light brightness.

If you can get over the unctionality of the light controller or plan to use a four wire electrical source, you'll love this fan.

Hunter Fans 21434 52" Sonora Traditional Energy Star New Bronze Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Blades Review

We purchased 2 of these after buying a couple Hunter fans in the past.These are top quality fans, both in looks and built quality.Even on high, you can barely hear them.The half globe instead of the 4 individual lights make it look a bit more 'normal' instead of your typical ceiling fan which is a nice touch.The CFL bulb is also nice for the energy conscience consumer.

Hunter 27157 Basic Remote Control Review

We purchased this unit so that my kids would not be able to play with the pull cords on the ceiling fan.We weren't certain how well it would work, but the installation was fairly simple.We got it right on the first try.

The remote control needs an A23 battery which was not included in our package.Wiring was fairly straightforward and the control unit tucked neatly into the fan casing.

If you control your fan with a light switch, be aware that the system defaults to the off position every time you turn off the light switch, so you will need your remote to activate the fan and the light again...don't lose your remote!Overall, we really like this gadget!

We installed this fan in our bathroom remodel in 1996. Awesome choice. The room is only 10'x8' and it *totally* protected the finish on our custom cabinets and the painted walls.
